Undergraduate student in Chemical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines

Research – Hydrothermal Treatment of PFAS in Lithium Ion Batteries

Education

B.S., Chemical Engineering In Progress, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado

Background

Chloe is a third-year student in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) at the Colorado School of Mines. She became interested in environmental engineering and research in high school after researching the degradation of PET plastics using the pETase enzyme in genetically modified bacteria. On Campus, she is a member of the ChemE car competition and the External Coordinator for the Society of Women in Chemistry. Chloe joined the Strathmann Group in the fall of 2024 and works with Postdoctoral Associate Shilai Hao on degrading Bis-TFA’s in Lithium-Ion Batteries using hydrothermal technologies. Outside of academics, she enjoys spending her free time gardening, running, and painting.
