Background

Nicole is a current Ph.D. student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Colorado School of Mines. She has received her Chemistry bachelor’s degree from Towson University, Maryland and her previous research experience focused on kinetic transformation of disinfection by-products (DBPs) in simulated drinking waters. She is being co-mentored between the Higgins and Strathmann group where her research will be on assessing the transformation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) isolated from soil samples and the screening of potential precursors to PFASs biotransformation. Outside of academics, Nicole likes to cross things off on her bucket list like going on a solo trip in the UK (picture depicted is Nicole in Wales), learning how to crochet, and one day try sky diving.
