B.S., Engineering Science and Mechanics (2015), Penn State University

Background

Aron developed an appreciation for the inherent value of natural resources growing up in central Pennsylvania and upstate New York. This passion was formalized while working as an undergraduate at Penn State in Dr. Christopher Gorski’s environmental redox chemistry and environmental electrochemistry research group. Aron proceeded directly to graduate school and earned his M.S. at UC Berkeley. Wanting to gain some breadth of experience and explore career options, Aron spent four years as a design engineer at Hazen and Sawyer where he was involved in a variety of projects in water and wastewater treatment. Aron joined the Strathmann group at the Colorado School of Mines in the fall of 2020, eager to apply his accumulated experience towards the advancement of water treatment technologies. His current research focuses on the application of high pressure membranes and hydrothermal alkaline treatment (HALT) for the removal and destruction of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Post graduation, he intends to find a postdoctoral position in advanced water treatment or energy technologies.
