Background
After completing an honors Bachelors Degree in Materials Chemistry from Binghamton University in 2019, Estelle was admitted to the Materials Science program at Colorado School of Mines to pursue a PhD. Spring of 2020, she joined the Strathmann group primarily concerned with catalysis design and optimization for propylene recovery from wastewater streams. Since then, she has been optimizing catalysts for food oil waste to biofuel conversion and PFASs remediation. Outside of academics, Estelle works to close the gap between food waste and hunger on and off campus through volunteer efforts connecting food insecure folx with community surplus. She also finds time for cooking, gardening and hanging by the creek.
