Background

Seth is a current Masters student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Colorado School of Mines.  He received his NanoEngineering bachelor’s degree from the  University of California, San Diego in which his main focus was material science with a minor in business.  In the Strathmann group, Seth’s current research involves hydrothermal alkaline treatment for simultaneous per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) destruction and recovery of energy and nutrients from wastewater solids.  By optimizing the hydrothermal process, the wastewater solids have the potential to be transformed into valuable materials while also destroying the PFAS. Outside of academics, Seth enjoys camping, skiing and surfing.
